I’ve been making weird art since I could pick up a pencil. As a kid I wrote and filmed movies starring my dog, made collage books (also starring my dog), and poked at my secondhand keyboard for hours–I would then host very bad musical “performances” for my parents.
To a chronically off-kilter kid like me, art offered refuge. In middle school, I discovered the magic of graphic novels when my parents took me to a comic store in Detroit. High school electives introduced me to ceramics and metalsmithing–and, like many queer kids, I found sanctuary in these art classes. After high school, community college let me explore wheel throwing, watercolor, and film photography without fear of college debt.
At 20, I use my experience with these mediums to expand my artistic playing field. I love the off-kilter, the queer, and the brightly colored. In my free time, you can find me at local Metro-Detroit coffee shops.
(And, of course, I’m still making weird art.)
